If I create a formula curve and attempt to revolve it, the result is just a cage. If I create a similar shape with the b-spline tool it revolves properly. Is this correct behavior for the formula curve?

This is shaded work mode

Hi Rafe,

Formula Curves have their Attributes set automatically for Render as Shaded Surface = No.

When you Derive (ie, Revolve) a shape, the resulting object inherits the Attributes of the Source Shape.

Therefore, to get this to Render as a Shaded Surface, you just need to check that option from the Object's Attributes.

Does this do what you want?

Rafe,

The Detailed Screw/Bolt is in the Specialties tool row, but currently only produces facetted screws and bolts.

Back to formula curve. Is it possible to sweep on those curves? And why do they render like this in Render zone

Rafe,

In addition to setting the Attributes: Override Edge Display to Always Off as Robert suggests, you can also simply uncheck the option for the Isoline Display in the Display Options if you don't want to see those lines...
