Can anyone help with animating this Robot arm?

I want to rotate around the axis which I marked red. Is this somehow possible? I can rotate the parent group around the first axis. How do I rotate the first child arm around the pivot axis marked 2?, and the second child around the third axis?

I can't seem to set the pivot axis on the first child arm in a different axis as the main parent.

IS this a clear question?

hope to hear from you soon!

kind regards

Rudy,

Put your objects in Animation Groups, and rotate these groups. See the Animation Tutorials at the end of the animation section of the manual...

Hi Robert,

I did this, but the rotation axe they all use is the one from the parent.
I can't find how to make it so that that they all use their own axis but react with the the movement from the parent axis

the system I use is

parent group
\_robot base arm object
....\_Child group
........\_Robot first arm object
............\_child group
................\_Robot second arm Object

And then use rotation tracks to rotate the groups

kind regards
Rudy

Rudy,

We just did a basic test on this, and it is working fine for us. Please see the attached file:

application/zip1
anim robot arm.zip (80.0 k)

Once you have analyzed this, please save your file under a new name, clear the Animation Score, and try to set it up like in our file.

Does this help?

Well I did it!

After figuring out the axis problem and group animation I could animate the whole thing in the animation editor. I only had some trouble with animating the visibility track of one of the blue objects, it's not showing in the animation editor

I'm happy with it!

Ok take a look if you want

Hi Rudy,

It looks great, glad we could help!

(Shouldn't the robot turn 90 degrees instead of 270?) :-)
