Hi,

I'm playing with the new Layout for the first time and having a little trouble. I'd like to know how to :
add a perspective view of a model inside a frame,
and;
alter the parameters, e.g. scale or view, of a model inside an existing frame.

Thanks,

Nick

Hi Nick,

When you draw a frame, you can choose the desired view and scale from the options. (For a Perspective, Fit is the most obvious choice.)

To adjust a Frame after you have already created, you can right click inside the Frame, choose Parameters, and adjust the settings as you would like.

Does this help?

Hi,

Yes, that helps, although right clicking inside the frame does nothing for me, I have to aim my pointer and click on the frame itself which is why I missed it before. I also didn't find this in the manual, but that could have been me skimming too fast. Again.

For the perspective view, I have Top, Bottom, Right, Left, Back and Front, but no 3D, (perspective), option.

Thanks,

Nick

Ah, pick the frame first, then right click anywhere inside. Duh.

Nick,

If you want a perspective view -- just save this view in the main project, and then this will appear i the list...

I've never saved a view before when modelling, I just select the 3D view palette icon and move my model around to look at it the way I want. I guess I was expecting to be able to rotate and view my model in 3D within the frame.

How do I save a view? Searching on "Save View" gets no results in the manual.

Palettes are currently bjorked after FormZ attempted to load my custom workspace when I went back to an already open modelling window. I can't see the View Palette. Choosing the standard modelling workspace is also bjorked.

I will send you my old preferences file - I'd like to keep my workspace if I could because it takes ages to set up the modelling palette how you want it - and perhaps I can then figure out how to save a view in a project so that I can see it in a layout...

Hi Nick,

We have seen a few issues with trying to use Preferences and Workspaces from early beta versions in the release version, so if you continue to have trouble, you will probably be better off customizing these directly in the release version...
