This is a quick little rendering I did today. It's one cube, not meshed or anything as a ground plane. This is after 20 minutes, but the grass part looked great after about 5 minutes. I used the default settings and one of the stock formZ grass textures.

I'd warn you, this is not fully implemented in the plug in, but this is so cool I figured I'd post it in the main forum.

Hi Rick,

Looks awesome...

What's not "fully implemented in the plugin"? Should be pretty complete, except I have plans to add some Grass presets.

Thanks for all your good efforts Plyon.

Is there a video (or group of less formal Youtubes), specifically focusing on use of formZ7 and Maxwell-- I bought a license last year and never got around to use it. Partly due to the version 7 changes along with other priorities... It would be lovely to see introductory-fast-demos on using Mawell as a pluggin.... A fast demo will help get an over view, (an inspiration to keep at it), as today there are so many competing web-based studies for people expanding their knowledge.

My primary goal with Maxwell was to simplify set ups for faster renders, (primarily medium quality architectural). I build concrete and ferrocement structures primarily, but incorporate all other materials... Though really don't get paid for modeling or rendering-- Just getting the job of physical labor, just getting hired is my need. So that very straight forward "how to render X" or "how to render Y" on Youtube would be ideal.

I find the long, drawn out videos on software use difficult to follow, because of the need to learn very specific elements instead of long drawn out designs (which we won't use).

PS- Your render looks great Plyon, assuming set up was almost second nature and easy to start, ( just click and let the computer work at and save the image).

Bo,

There's a Bonzai tutorial that autodessys did that should be able to get you up and running. Look on the z website.

Also, Evan Troxel from GetMethod did three tutorials that also should be quite helpful:

I have to say, I was pretty good at renderzone, but once you start with maxwell there's no comparison.

FWIW, I like hdri lighting better than the physical sky for most architectural applications, and I stopped fooling around with the AGS glass system, now I just model the glass accurately and let it go. I find it important to model a bit of the world around the object so the light from the sky is stopped by things like buildings and tree lines.

Here's a rendering from yesterday:

Ben is really helpful, he may know of some other tutorials. Good luck, let me know if you need anything else.

Is it possible to get the 30 Trial of Maxwell that works within formZ?

Hi Bo,

We will definitely be producing videos in the future; for now, there is full documentation here:
