Is there a way to rename many objects at one time? For example if you purchase a tree model there can be 8,000 leaves and 4,000 branches. But they just come in named as objects 1-12k. Re-exporting to another program is often confusing with no naming and naming each one at a time is tedious.

There are Plugins and Scripts that can be used to rename objects that you can find (and / or customize) here:
If there is no need to keep these as separate objects, it would be much easier and more efficient to select all these leaves and use the Join Volume tool to turn them into a single object -- which can then be named only once. In addition to cleaning up your objects palette -- your file will then perform faster too.

Usualy, I rename all objects in my projects, and I use this script extensively. It's a GREAT time saver.
ZTech, can I make a suggestion? Please, to add a title entry in the object palette. Currently, you have this entry in the Object tab in Project Settings.
In this way, you could pre name objects that are repeated in advance, and the palette goes numbering them in sequence, as usual.
The same for Layers, Light, etc., but the really important is for Objects.
