Figure 3: The Displacement Edit dialog and settings.

You can experiment with different values then click the Update button to preview the results.

• When satisfied with your settings, click OK.

The displaced object is now complete. Since this is a controlled object, simply right-click on the object and choose Query Parameters to invoke the Displacement Edit dialog again.

Our last step is to texture map the displaced object with a color map image for rendering and 3D printing

The Texture Map Controls dialog is displayed, as shown in Figure 4. Observe that this dialog has similar mapping parameters to the Displacement Edit dialog.

• Select Mapping Type: Flat.
• Set Horizontal Tiling Size = 1’-0” and select Center.
• Set Vertical Tiling Size = 1’-0” and select Center.

Figure 5: The Surface Style Parameter dialog.

Note that these are the same values used in the Displacement Edit dialog.

• Click the surface style preview box located in the lower left corner to invoke the Surface Style Parameters dialog, as shown in Figure 5.

  • Select the Texture Map tool and click on the displaced object.

Figure 4: The Texture Map Controls dialog.
