Structural Obstacles - form•Z Solutions: M(y)Oon Column
When Columbus based architect Susan Melsop undertook the design of a 1920 house renovation, she faced a mighty column between the entry and the living room that presented a navigational obstacle that was also an eye sore. Her goal became to create an aesthetically pleasing architectural detail that merges architecture, sculpture, and furniture. Follow the process and see the outcome at http://formz.com/informz/march_2008/informz_online8.html.

Tutorial: Sculpting Objects with Images and 3D Printing them
One of the fastest growing industries is 3D printing. It is becoming increasingly popular to prototype products, sculptures, and, yes, architectural structures. In this issue we showcase how the displacement tool in form•Z helps you design a three-dimensional terrain model among other things, prepare it for 3D printing output and send it as .zpr file to a ZCorp printer-http://www.zcorp.com. form•Z can output colors and textures and very clean geometry for successful, realistic looking prototypes that help sell projects to your clients, save you time, and expenses. Follow the steps at http://formz.com/informz/march_2008/informz_online16.html
