1. Select object with Pick tool. In Tool Options palette select the Attributes tab then choose Display Resolution from the pull-down below. Increase or decrease the facetted part of the smooth object by changing the Simple slider. Or select the more advanced Scheme option then choose Facetting Schemes from the pull-down to the right and another dialog with more facetting parameters is invoked. Note, changing the Display Resolution does not convert the smooth object to a facetted object. The object is still smooth and only the underlying equivalent facetted part of the smooth object is changed. Also, the dark lines are the Iso lines of the smooth surface and the lighter grey lines are the facetted edges.
2. Select the Convert tool, click on the smooth object, choose Facetted option, then click OK button. The smooth object is converted to a plain facetted object and all smooth information is removed from the object. Note, the resolution of the resulting facetted object is determined by the object’s Display Resolution as described in step 1.
3. The Polygon Mesh tool lets you adjust the Display Resolution and convert a smooth object to a facetted object in a single operation. Select the Polygon Mesh tool, in Tool Options palette set the desired facetting parameters, then click on the smooth object. Note this tools works in the “result buffer” mode allowing you to interactively adjust the parameters in the Tool Options palette and see the changes to your object instantaneously in the modeling window. This option is only available in formZ Pro.
